Biddenden Vineyard is the oldest commercial vineyard in Kent and is owned and run by the Barnes family who founded it in 1971. They produce award winning wines, ciders and juices, supplying trade and retail outlets across Kent.

In 2022, Biddenden Vineyard won 5 awards at the prestigious International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) for their wines and new Ice Cider, plus a Taste of Kent award for their sparkling apple juice.

How important has having a Creative Partner been for building your brand?
As Kent’s original commercial vineyard, our brand has been a trusted local name for over 50 years. As such, our reputation precedes us and our brand identity is integral to our business.
We have been working with Oak Creative for what feels like forever – it must be 30 + years, so they have truly been on that journey with us!

What role does your brand identity play in your business?
Biddenden Vineyards has grown from a small diversified farming business into an independent brand over the years. Since the beginning, our iconic logo and label design has always been important to merchandise our products. The boom in English vineyards has only increased the need to keep these relevant and authentic to our brand. Oak Creative assists with refreshing product range labels, photography, new product label design and online merchandising tiles. In addition, we’re committed to giving our customers the very best experience whenever they come into contact with our brand.
What results have you seen since launching your FoodE website with Oak Creative?
Our new ecommerce website with FoodE launched in October 2021. Designed and built by Oak Creative, FoodE is a food and drink e-commerce platform. Biddenden were one of the first businesses to work with FoodE and our long standing relationship with Oak means our new site works exactly as we want it to.
The real results have been in the conversion rates and the fulfilment of online sales internally. The time involved in processing online orders has significantly reduced due to the automation process.
We are also starting to see a correlation between paid ads and our sales and our FoodE site is robust and optimised for this kind of marketing.
How has your FoodE website helped your brand?
Our new site gives our customers a much better shopping experience. As consumers ourselves we know how little attention spans we can have when shopping online, so we’ve added features to really help our customers find what they need fast.
Our tasting notes slider clearly shows the key facts about each wine at a glance and the options to filter and sort products by category allows customers to easily find products by type and taste profile.
Oak Creative recommended that we strategically have two landing pages, one for our juice and cider range and one for our wines. This is to help differentiate and push awareness of our cider range – it’s easier to direct customers to where they want to be.
